Sea, desert & ancient Egypt
Hurghada excursions cover far more than the beach. From your hotel you can snorkel the coral reefs of Giftun Island and Orange Bay, ride a quad bike into the Eastern Desert for sunset at a Bedouin camp, or spend a full day among the temples of Luxor and the tombs of the Valley of the Kings.
With an early start, even the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo work as a day trip. On this page you will find all our Hurghada tours and day trips in one place, sorted by type: sea and island trips, desert safaris, historical tours to Luxor and Cairo, family activities and private trips.
Every excursion includes hotel pickup, there is no deposit to pay, and you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before.

Short answers from our team in Hurghada.
Most guests mix three kinds of trips during a week. For the sea, a boat trip to Orange Bay or Giftun Island with snorkeling stops on the reef. For the desert, a quad and jeep safari that ends with dinner at a Bedouin camp. For history, a full day in Luxor with the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Karnak. If you have time for a fourth, the dolphin trips and the semi-submarine are easy favorites. See all island trips, desert safaris and Luxor day trips from Hurghada.
Prices depend on the trip. These are our starting prices per adult:
Hotel pickup in Hurghada is included in the price, and you pay on the day of the trip.
Yes. Luxor is about 4 hours by road, so you leave early, visit the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Karnak, and are back at your hotel in the evening. The Pyramids of Giza are about 460 km away, around 5 to 6 hours each way by bus, so that trip leaves at night and returns late. To save time on the road, there is also a Cairo trip by plane, with about one hour of flying. An Egyptologist guide joins you on both. See all Luxor day trips and Cairo day trips from Hurghada.
Spend at least one day on the water. The beaches in town are shallow with little coral, but the reefs around Giftun Island and Orange Bay are some of the easiest places in the Red Sea to see fish and coral without diving. Watch one sunset in the desert. And keep an evening free for a walk through the old El Dahar market and along Hurghada Marina, which costs nothing. See our snorkeling trips in Hurghada.
Kids usually love the semi-submarine, because they can watch the reef through the glass without getting wet. The dolphin show, the Hurghada Grand Aquarium and island boat trips with shallow beaches are also easy outings for small children. The bus trip to Cairo is a very long day, so we suggest it for older kids. See all family activities in Hurghada.
